So, you have always wanted to have a few chickens in the back yard living in the Phoenix area? Do you feel you have a “Ma Kettle” trapped in your body? But, are afraid to try a flock? Afraid your husband, wife, partner, neighbors, or your dog will object? And you don’t have the time for these gentle creatures?

Rent a Hen will help you with these questions and more. We are offering a unique service in the Phoenix area to assist you in creating a backyard flock. You can have fresh eggs, and enjoy the antics of chickens without a firm commitment. Rent a Hen gives you this opportunity and takes care of the details.

So, if you are not Ma, but “Betty MacDonald”, we will be with you. You can rent our young, healthy, and happy hens for 60 days. And if it doesn’t work out, they come back to me.

I will provide hens, around 6 months old and nearing laying stage. Tamed, and used to people. I use chicken species that are calm, and like humans. Usually the species will be Barred Rocks, Americana’s, Rhode Island Reds, Astrolopes, and others when available. I buy chicks from trusted sources, and hand raise them.

Hens and Chicks

If you are sure that having a backyard flock is what you want, we can help with that. We also sell young hens that have begun to lay. Availability can be limited, as we are in contact with suppliers, and also people who need to re-home hens. I have experience in adopting and nurturing grown hens.

As for chicks, we are very happy to help you pick out and raise youngsters. We can provide helpful assistance to be sure your venture is successful.
